Although I’m based in Chicago, I often travel for weddings and elopements. This Michigan family farm wedding is a perfect example of how a destination doesn’t need to be far to feel meaningful. Clark’s family farm has hosted several weddings before, so celebrating here carried on a family tradition while also reflecting their own love story.
The ceremony took place behind the barn. Mia and Clark shared their first look before exchanging vows at the pond located not so far behind the barn. Surrounded by open fields and history, it was the perfect backdrop for their day.

DIY Wedding Details That Made the Day Unique
Mia poured her creativity into every detail. She handmade her wedding dress from scratch and embroidered tiny magnets as keepsakes for each guest. Friends designed the florals, and Mia worked with her bridesmaids to create bouquets the morning of the wedding.
Their table numbers were another favorite detail. Each table displayed photos of Mia and Clark at that age—baby photos for table one, childhood photos for table ten, and so on. Their siblings chose the images, turning the reception into a visual journey of their lives.
