Elegant Wedding at Loft Lucia – Melissa and Kevin

Melissa and Kevin put together THE most elegant and dreamy wedding day celebrations at Loft Lucia in Chicago. They actually made their marriage legal last year at Chicago’s City Hall but wanted to celebrate their marriage with all their loved ones. Together they created a wedding day that was the perfect celebration for this new chapter of life they’ve started with each other.

Getting Ready and First Looks

Melissa and Kevin took their time getting ready with their wedding parties at an Airbnb they had rented out in Chicago that overlooks the city’s skyscrapers. They started off their day the best way possible, with tons of laughs and good vibes with their closest friends. Once Melissa put on her finishing touches she had a first look with her bridesmaids which is such a great way to get hyped up for the rest of the wedding day, and her crew did not disappoint! Kevin and his crew all shared a drink together once they were ready before heading to the rooftop space for his and Melissa’s first look.

I almost always recommend a first look for my couples as it is such a sweet and intimate moment to share during the craziness that is a wedding day. This moment for Melissa and Kevin was so sweet, they were BEYOND excited to see one another. After Melissa and Kevin’s first look we spent some time taking some portraits of the two of them before heading over to their wedding ceremony at Loft Lucia.

Wedding Ceremony at Loft Lucia

Loft Lucia is one of my favorite wedding venues in Chicago for a number of reasons, one of them being the mix of indoor and outdoor spaces available. Melissa and Kevin set their wedding spaces up beautifully having the indoor space available for guests to mingle in prior to their outdoor ceremony. Inside they kept the decorations simple with one of the main focal points being a memorial shelf for Kevin’s late brother Dennis as the ‘Fourth Groomsmen”.

For their outdoor ceremony, Melissa and Kevin kept their decorations on the simpler side. With a focus on the floral arrangements and the great view from Loft Lucia of the West Loop skyline, their wedding ceremony space was a simple yet elegant dream. The ceremony itself was so heartfelt with a ton of happy tears shed throughout. Once Melissa and Kevin said their vows they made their exit and headed back inside to share a moment together with Dennis’ memorial.

Cocktail Hour and Reception

After their wedding ceremony, the indoor space at Loft Lucia was already set up for their cocktail hour and reception. Having these multiple spaces was a dream come true as everyone was able to mingle indoors while group photos and wedding party photos were taken outdoors, which kept Melissa and Kevin’s day running smoothly. Once we had all our outdoor photos it was time to start their reception. The reception was full of so many incredible moments. Between the food, the speeches, the dancing, and the cart of paletas there was SO much to love about Melissa and Kevin’s reception. It really was the perfect way to cap off their beautiful day!

Being a part of Melissa and Kevin’s wedding day celebrations at Loft Lucia was such a treat and an experience I’m so glad I was able to capture for them!
